“Stress – A condition caused by not camping enough.”
Hi! Robin and Dave here. We are a Canadian couple from Nova Scotia, currently living on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. We love to be outdoors. We love nature – the smells, the sounds, the beautiful vistas, the feel of sand between our toes, the wind in our hair.
We retired in January of 2016, wanting to get away from Nova Scotia winters, and moved south to Ecuador. Don’t get me wrong, we love a good snow storm and enjoy snowshoeing, skating, plus various other winter activities, but we don’t like the ice, freezing rain and the constant shoveling, driving on slippery roads, etc.
After living in several areas of Ecuador for a year and a half, we decided to move back to Canada. We chose to move to the West Coast – where the winters are much shorter and milder – so we packed up our old camper van and headed west.
We spent over a month on the road traveling across our fantastic country, totally enjoyed the trip, and are looking forward to living on Vancouver Island.
We both love camping, hiking, canoeing, swimming, gardening, exploring, etc. etc. – anything to do with the outdoor world. We remember as children playing outside with our siblings and friends until darkness forced us to go inside. We both love exploring the seashore, hiking in the woods, picking blueberries, bird watching, planting flowers and vegetables, skating, tobogganing – oh, there are so many things to do outdoors.
We have shared our passion with our children as well. We have gone on many family outings, visiting parks and museums, or just laying in the backyard looking at the stars. Being a leader with Scouts Canada and Girl Guides of Canada has enabled us to enjoy time with our children and their peers, going to jamborees, camps, canoe trips, hikes – you get the picture. Today, as adults, our children still enjoy nature and the outside world. I know it has made them appreciate their environment more – they stop and smell the roses; they see the forest and the trees.
We’d like to share some of our stories, photos, and experiences with you on this site. We hope you enjoy it.
We welcome any comments, questions or suggestions, hope to hear from you soon!
Being outside is good for your health, physical and mental. So what are you waiting for, get outside!!
